Mary's Artwork During Devotional Time Last Night
I was reading a short teaching lesson about a scripture, and as the older girls listened....Mary drew.
I encourage her to show her love for the Lord through her writing and coloring.
I asked her, "What are you drawing below?"
Her reply, "Bethlehem."

I know. I know.
The blue cube holds water and bubbles.
Mary stacked these.
I love tub toys.

This and That
Mary's snow globe at school - "If I lived in a snow globe...."
Not uncommon that folks in her drawings are brown in color
Jesus, Joseph, and Mary
I love it!!
The girls are posing in front of the Treasure Island display at church.
Little Miss Pirate -- who will be singing in the large children's choir -- is showing her Cap'n Hook-type finger.
It's a Christian musical about finding the treasure of God's wisdom.
Emily and Molly both sang in these musicals when they were younger.
They went to choir at church -- weekly -- and learned the songs, little bits of choreography.
Met other children.
Learned about the Lord through song.
They were not overjoyed that I nudged them into participating.
Emily had only been in America about 9 months when she was in her first one.
Uhm....Molly was only here about 3 months.
She arrived in the U.S. At the end of March, and the musical took place at the end of May.
She was with Emily in the musical - so that helped.
We just told her to say "watermelon, watermelon" and it'll look like you're singing.
She did fine.
Mary - she's been here 2 years and not shy about being in the musical.
Back to weekend work job --

By choice, we have become a family, first in our hearts, and finally in breath and being. Great expectations are good; great experiences are better.
"She's seeing better than the last time." (Per attendant who conducted some eye tests)
Shiyan came to visit while her dad helped with locks on doors - removing them and going with me to get replacements.
Thanks Forrest and Robin - such unselfish friends!
Emily and Max
Schools closed today - MLK Day
3 dentist appointments
1 eye doctor visit
1 vet visit for Chase - bless his heart!
Church 2x yesterday
Pot Luck with Robin and Forrest on Saturday night
Finished Petsitting this morning
Working on organizing clothes for church/missions (children's clothing and toys) consignment event coming up.
Em and Molly organize the clothes and toys we are consigning.
They'll keep part of the profit, the other part goes to missions, and any item that doesnt sell...we donate to the sponsored projects.
I'll type all the required tags with clothing descriptions - online with bar codes automatically assigned.
Very organized event - headed up by tech savvy young church members who are mission minded.

Petsitting and Library Visit
We're on a super plan - to do all we can (in the natural) to become debt free.
Add on job - Petsitting for friends who live close by
Max and Mary
As I said, the notion of a 7 year old and a dog in the same bed -- attempting to go to sleep in a timely manner -- FORGET IT.
Looking up info on the library's computer
Molly is doing research on Christopher Columbus.
Emily -- she's reading
the story of Dr. Ben Carson's life and is planning to write a report about him.
Mary picked out a few videos -
Adventures in Odyssey
and a children's cartoon book about Amelia Earhart.

Frosty's Head Took a Tumble
Mary....in her bathrobe being used for an outside jacket.... - for some odd reason - wanted to bring Emily's little snow man's head inside.
We put it in a Chinese take out container
and stuck it in the frig.
We just love his cute little face.
I was getting something from the freezer, and...
You guessed it.
We are cooking a bean soup for supper and separating/rolling coins.
Time to cash in some "change" that we've been saving AND continue to teach Mary about money (nickel = 5 cents, etc.).
We played Mexican Train Dominoes on Family Night (Friday). We went to Nanny Carol's for the evening.
Walked in the sleet and ice.
We'd made a delish squash casserole and had a "one dish wonder" meal.
That's somewhat normal for us.
It was hot and yummy on a COLD winter night.
Who was the biggest loser at our 6-7 sessions of dominoes?
I'll never tell.

Guess What We Got?
Mary is wearing her red and gold Chinese vest.
I believe it was a hand me down from Emily who got it handed down from Anna E.
She has on her signature bike helmet.
We made this at Nanny Carols's front door.
Got out and walked all around in it.
This is probably Mary's first time -- likely -- to see frozen anything outside.
Kunming is somewhat tropical.
Emily created this little fella on our front sidewalk.
1 1/2 weeks ago the girls wrote 2016 in the sand on the beach.
Today it's 2017 in the sleet.
So fun to have a day like today.

-Went to church (latest service)
-Ate black-eyed peas and collard greens
-Took a short nap
-Drank coffe and had homemade pumpkin bread (organic mix) that Em and Molly baked
-Watched 2 movies
Amazing Grace - The story of William Wilburforce's unending quest to abolish slavery in England and end the acceptance of slave trade.
One of my favorite movies ever.
Bought it dirt cheap at christianbook.com over a year ago.
This is our traditional New Year's movie.
Love it so much.
A hobo and his dog go and live in a millionaire's home every winter - while the millionaire is away.
1947 movie - a fave/feel good story
Donna and Marlene gave it to us several years ago.
