(Photo from a day trip this week)

Little, lonely country road
Have you on your trail
Something I am searching for
Like a holy grail?

Some turn on your winding way
Where dark clouds dissolve
And small burdens fall away
With renewed resolve

To find calm and and peaceful thoughts
And let them hold sway?
I will follow, little road
Where you lead today.

Clown Time

These sweet big sisters get to keep experiencing childhood fun with their little sissy. They are good sports to sit amongst the wee ones.

Went to Visit Our German Baptist Friends

We decided to make a last minute stop to see our dear, dear family friends.
They're somewhat similar to Amish folks.

I've known them for about 20 years but lost contact for several years.
We reconnected about 8 years ago.

We stay in touch via letter writing, and one sister uses the computer at the local library - and does email s-o-m-e.
We've gone to their home.
Some of the family members have been to mine.

They walk, ride bikes, or drive diesel tractors.
They will catch a Greyhound Bus or hitch rides with friends.
No A/C.

We played a few rounds of Uno with Marilyn.
The other sister was at work.

These are THE kindest people.

We talked and realized haven't been together for 3 years.
It seems like about 1 1/2 years - MAX.

Boy that time went by too, too quickly.

They'd never met Mary.
She really enjoyed Mr. Bill's beard.

They've sold the farm and moved into "town".
I had to ask IF there was a grocery store in their little area. Seems the answer is 'yes'.

I'm sooo glad we stopped to catch up and visit.
Hope to see them again before the year is over.
Special. Special.

Blueberry Pickin'

Out in the country

Turn right after the water tower
Go left at the mailboxes

Pose with the lady farmer -
Blueberry Queen Extraordinare

Tie bungee cords around waist
Attach gallon bucket
Insert blue bag

Tour the barn

Be amazed at vintage farm equipment

Photograph 3 generation "hopper" that separates the blueberries from the stems

Pose in front of bushes in "the first field on the right"

Pick, eat, pick, eat more
Listen to the silence
Revel in the birds singing
Sweat a whole lot more (11:30 a.m. in the sunny, a.k.a. Sweltering, south
Savor the moment in time

Does This Qualify Me for a Father's Day Present

I wake up this morning.
Emily comes to me and says, "Mom, the toilet won't flush."

So off I go to retrieve the 'toilet snake' and heavy duty, black accordion style plunger - of which I am in possession.

Got busy.
Problem solved.

Off to church.
Home for lunch.

The life I live.
The BEST!!

We Rescued "Sniffles the Squirrel"

But when we got him/her to the vet...we found out our sweet baby is a possum.

Molly found the newborn by her azalea flower bed.
It blended in with pavement.
Just happened to be in the right spot at the right time.
Molly - that is.

I told the girls it must be a squirrel.
I obviously "told them wrong".

The vet is a dropping off station for non-profit wildlife rescuers who take in wild babies/creatures in need.

Keepin' Robin and Forrest's Kiddos for the Night

Mary read the Bible story to Shaun and Joshua.
Good buddies

Then she played dentist.
We actually read our devotional, and Emily reminded me we had not brushed teeth with the boys.

Geepers - I'm so responsible tonight.

The little ones played together, hugged, practically skipped dinner so they could go have fun the entire time!!!

Laura, Shiyan, Maria, Emily, Molly, Nanny Carol, and I played Mexican Train Dominoes, all had pizza, there were a few different movies to watch....and now bed time.

The grown ups in our two families trade favors - jobs that need to be done.
My turn to pay up.
Mom always does her part, but we are glad she joined us.

$2.00 movie

Dippin Dots - Molly's first time to have them

Missy Girl lost another tooth

She played tooth fairy last night.

Folks at Wednesday night prayer meeting gave her 12 one dollar bills for the space on her face. One of the church members drummed up the idea to have folks give Mary this money.

Huh?!? So funny.

Mary divided it up and placed 4.00 under Molly's pillow and Emily's...
And hers
at 5:00 this morning

So sweet to share.

Visiting Family - Day Trip Out of State

My precious, gentle Uncle Ray

Fiesty Elaine (Ray's sister in law....our aunt) - She joined us for Sunday lunch at Uncle Ray's.
We cooked it all here at home and took it with us.
The girls, mom, and I prepared poppyseed chicken casserole, salad, and green beans.
Mom was my co-pilot for the trip.

Elaine made this chocolate pie - my grandmother's recipe

Yummy and special

Uncle Ray will be selling his home soon and moving into assisted living.

Good ole Community Dark Roast Coffee
I've had many a cup of this kind of coffee in this very home....through the years.

Aunt Ann would "fix" it for us.

Such a memorable day with folks dear to our hearts.

I call Emily "Little Mulan" when she has her hair like this.
Mary is blue dotted from VBS.

This ain't your Grandma's Vacation Bible School!

Tonight was Family Fun Night

Chik-Fil-A donated meals for sale -- 100% of all profit goes to missions (Compassion in India and a U.S. Christian Camp for kiddos).

Gotta love Chik-Fil-A!

Met up with Robin's brood

Em and Molly are out of age range for VBS -  but have been big supporters of little sissy.

An International Kind of Morning

Where's Waldo?
Can you find Nanny Carol, Molly, Emily, and Mary?

I took the picture at a church event - hosting internationals and their families.

Mom works with these darlings on Thursdays at her church.
People attend to learn English, assimilate into the culture, hear the gospel, make friends, and eat yummy foods.

We joined up with the group this morning  - to chat, smile, serve, and be a part of this event.

This sweet angel is from Nigeria.
Ms. Lovette
I chowed down on her rice dish.
Had some good spices in it.

Great time.
