LuLu and Cookie's gift (from us)
Marlene made these 2 pillows for us.
The top pillow design is the front design from a shirt that Mary wore and outgrew.
The bottom pillow design was on Mary's old pajamas. Mar added the back of the shirt from top design (red material with white polka dots) to have continuity.
I treasure these!!!
Mrs. Melissa came by bearing gifts.

This is our "on sale at Christian Books dot com" paper advent calendar.
I read a devotion each night to the girls.
We seek out the day of the month and read the little quote from Charlie Brown's Christmas play.
It's all Christ centered.
The Christmas story from Luke.
Gosh. Seems almost unheard of in this day and age of our culture - to have a nationwide comic strip acknowledging the Savior of the world.
Maybe that's why it appeals to me so much.
From days gone by....but we are keeping it all current and alive.
We'll stay faithful to the true meaning of Christmas - when LOVE came down and rescued us.

Emily's Snow Angel
Snow falling off tree limbs when Molly threw a snowball at the tree...Mary on the right. Emily under/in the snow falling.
They did this all morning.
This is what they looked like after their turns standing under "the Avalanche" of snow laden limbs...

My mother gave me this Christmas bell on her birthday....hmmmm....maybe 20+ years ago.
I wear it every year on her birthday.
We had a great day today.
Gorgeous snow day.
We took mom to eat Mexican food and
started the cooking process on our annual Party Mix recipe - no longer Chex but organic cereals, pretzels, and pecans.
I helped Mary bake her first cake last night - Nanny Carol's birthday cake.
We went through all the steps of gathering ingredients, preheating oven, and finding bowls and measuring cups.
I pulled out a fork for Mary to stir the ingredIents....she immediately picked up the cake mix box, flipped it to the back of the box with pictures, and pointed to the pic of THE MIXER.
She grunted, "Uh uh."
This girl wanted machinery.
She wanted noise.
She wanted to handle this tool and wreak some smoothness into that cake batter.
And she did!
We love you, mom. You are a treasure in our lives! Happy Happy Birthday.

Mary and Kaitlyn - her aunt lives in the group home and her mom works weekends here, too
The group home folks put on a play.
It was sooo touching.
Mary snd Joseph
Sam the Artist Man sketched the backdrop.
This is Cora, from India, with Mary...both home to their families for about the same amount of time.
Mary - 3 years
Cora - 2.5 years
This little darling is totally blind.
Her mom and I had emailed back and forth before I ever went to China to meet Mary. Mom is a friend of Marlene's, and that's how we sorta hooked up.
This morning I took the weekend folks to their handbell performance at a sweet little church, and lo and behold....this cool family attends here.
Chatted with Cora's mom, hugged necks, and was thankful for the opportunity to connect.

We spent Saturday organizing and cleaning (as much as we could with the time we had)....been out of town.
Hurried to late afternoon wedding -
Mary's Music teacher at school
Kind, gentle young teacher
Marrying a kind, young gentleman
Beautiful little church
Lovely. Just lovely.
Got the Christmas tree out (per Mary's deep desire)
Gonna decorate it today
Been to church - super service
Headed to mom's later to deliver leftovers of veg-all casserole....gift from Marlene. We had gone by Mar's house after the wedding (4 blocks from her house).
We've had a full week - working, schooling, cooking, traveling, visiting with family.
Made some memories.
My favorite activity!!!
Tis the Season....
