We borrowed Mr. Cat in the Hat for the weekend.
The Dynamic Duo - riding in the back seat.

Reading the tiny little Cat in the Hat book that goes with the stuffed celebrity.
AND
Mary could read it with glasses off.
** They're on her forehead for some reason. **

We Went Exploring in a Very Old Church

We talked about the symbols
Cross
Crown
Dove
Sun
Anchor
Lillies of the Valley
Alpha and Omega (Greek alphabet letters on the open Bible)

Found this narrow staircase in an almost hidden location

We then located and played a few pianos and spotted vintage art work - black silouettes...intricate cut outs (one of a man and one of a woman).

It was an interesting 45 minutes.
Looking around.

Photo Montage

A mouse drawn by Mary

Sweet treasures we chaperoned on Friday night

Molly's butterfly

Mary reading - Yes. Sometimes she gets that close to her book.

Molly's azaleas

Mary cut out and colored ears -- then attached them to her headband.

Here's her tail.
She was a zebra.

I let her try on fancy dresses at the department store. We played like she was a princess and I was the prince.
We used out British accents!

Another Simple - but Unique - Experience

These resurrected 3 wheel bikes are not ours....
But boy, I sure would love to have a couple of these.
Tons of fun
Out in God's beautiful world
Together

We Met Up with Aubree at Dance for Special Needs Adults

I was working with my posse - young ladies with various challenges.
Aubree's mom teaches special needs high schoolers in the public school system.
We were all here last year.

Uhm...5:45 a.m. -- MY Quiet Time

Hmmmm...this is out of the ordinary.
For some reason she was up and at it -
But only 20 minutes earlier than usual.

This is part of my devotional time slot in the mornings.
Read my Bible.
Pray.
Drink coffee.

We have to hussle in the mornings.
J.O.B.
No room for error time-wise.
Gotta go.
(Sometimes I loathe the word "go".)

Sign in - on time - or your name gets highlighted in yellow.
I've nevah been a victim of the Sunshine Sharpie.
Almost, tho.

Bells ring for school to begin.
Better not be in the hallway.
Kids are piling into classrooms.

Another day.

That's Not a Whoopie Cushion on Mary's Head

...but it sure looks like one!

Rainbow Girl

Mary knows the colors of the rainbow - in order.
ROY G BIV
Red
Orange
Yellow
Green
Blue
Indigo
Violet

But I usually tell her "....blue, purple...which is really indigo and violet..."

Cuz we don't tend to have those 2 colors in our paint sets.

SO Mary says all the colors
But when she gets to blue she then says,
"Ind-a-vie-go"

She's running indigo and violet together.
It's too cute.
I never correct her when she says it.

Matter of fact -
I sit down and write a blog post about it.

At Church with Cultural School Buddy

My school's staff visited one of the churches that has adopted our school through a community partnership.

I took Mary to the kindergarten class, and lo and behold...one of our cultural school friends was in here, and her mom was teaching the class.

Sweet Mailey - from Taiwan.

What are the chances?
Great time to connect.

Cultural School Picnic - End of the Year

The Gang - who could attend this year.

Close ups/cropped pics of my pigtailed posse
Great time to visit and catch up
Be outside
AND
Not prepare lunch

One of My Main Goals in Life is...

To keep the bathroom trash can empty for at least 5 minutes.

Seems we empty mine (Mary's job)...but she's not down the hall good before somebody somewhere has tossed more trash in it.

5 empty, lonesome minutes
of nothing but air
and wicker

Mary's Big Field Trip - Learning About BIG Vehicles

It pored down rain, but the show must go on...
and it did.

In a State Trooper's front seat.
Better than the back!

Mary Got a Good Dose of Chuck E. Cheese

It was the little fella's birthday party...the one on the far left.
Milton.
Unusual name for a kindergartner.
It was my uncle's name.
Sweet young man.

Look how he's got his held up -- proud and honored to be celebrated.
We're glad we got to be a part of it all.

Milton is wearing a blue cape and cool glasses in other photo.

Mary had never been to "the play zone on steroids".
She had a blast.

Mary loves these little rides.

Em came along to be of assistance.

Molly stayed at Nanny Carol's house and ate up her supper.
Free food for the kids!
Yay!!

As Purple Barney sings,
"I love you.
You love me.
We're a happy family."

The Gliding Flight - Paper Folding and Aerodynamics

That is some serious paper folding.

I took the homeschool liberty (I love to say that!!) to break from the norm -- which I often do with science and social studies and Bible....but never with math, spelling, reading, or language arts.

Yup.
The girls have been using the shown book to learn to fold paper airplanes.

Then we fly them in the evenings if we can catch a good wind.

Yesterday's plane flew famously well.
Had to arc it upward on the throw, but the wind really sent it flying.

I like that the girls have to construct their understanding of a concept.
Their days of doing these type activities AS their science are probably numbered.

They cannot build examples of mitochondria (they can sketch them), but not everything needs to be "draw and label".
Some things - yes, for sure.
Most science should just be fun!

Next on the science agenda -- building simple structures to protect a raw egg when it's dropped from a location up high (balcony of someone's 2 story house or a bridge). We'll have to find a fun spot.

We're certain to document it all in pictures!

Clowns, Camels, and Colder Morning Than I Thought

I'm working this weekend, and the facility where I work is hosting a fundraiser. My girls are a part of it all.

Field Trip!!

We had to borrow jackets. Brrrrr.

I recently trapped a feral cat (in a kindness trap...where door shuts behind kitty as she goes inside to eat smelly, fishy cat food).

All of this so sweet kitty does not get preggie and start the vicious cycle that follows.

I love animals and don't want to see any suffering.

Well...yesterday morning I had permission to be 45 mins late to work. Callie the Captured Cat needed to be "fixed".

I have perfect attendance for this 2015-2016 school year. It was no problem to go in to work a few mins late.

Mary and I had an appointment at the low cost spay neuter clinic for dear Callie to have her surgery.
Gone from home by 6:45.
I left her there in good hands.
Others were picking her up.

** Kitty will be released in same neighborhood where she was living outside and being fed. **

Actually this has been a team effort.
Gwen has the trap.
She and Jen are the cat advisors.
Donna helped me find the clinic and provided practical solutions.

We all collaborated together to w-o-r-k and get this accomplished.
These kinda friends do, go, bring, assist, chip in, and offer to drop everything to help out.

On the way to school from the clinic, Mary said, "Can we call this a field trip?"

I said, "Yes, honey. Everyday can be fun...and we will always go on field trips."

She just squealed.

One thing's for sure: We live a great life with a variety of experiences!!!!
Even Clowns and Camels

For this I'm so thankful.
